Return to the SMF Default Theme for now

Paul hasn't installed our forum default yet, and so until he does, I advise everyone move to the SMF Default Theme (in other words, anyone who has just a white background and Times New Roman text should go to Profile, then Look and Layout Preferences and go to Themes).

Speaking of the conversion, nothing but a few posts made hours before the conversion have not been saved. I'm not too sure Paul could do anything about that though.

Yeah, fishywishy has to upload the theme since I do not have it.  I'm working on uploading the rest of the site, and then we'll move on to getting the gallery online. I know we're missing a few posts (like the "Move to fs.org" thread), but the sql backup didn't include those for some reason.  Oh well

We wanted to get the forums online first since that is where most of our visitors come to.

Thanks for the heads-up, lol.  I was wondering what was up with the different look here.   I do find it annoying how the odd still isn't up (adding on to the original ones that didn't make it over ).  I guess I'll have to re-post the new thread I made then. I should point out that the statistics center isn't working for me whatsoever, so I don't know if you knew that or not.

EDIT:  Actually not that I see a couple day's worth of posting was wiped out I'm kind of annoyed, lol.  Is it possible to get those over still, or no?  I'm guessing it isn't.

I'm working on getting the layout back online.  In the meantime, please use one of the other themes.  FW is the expert on the forum skin, since I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't want to mess anything up.

That link doesn't possess any of the missing posts either I don't think, Paul.  It looks like it's not just posts, but rather anything form of activity that went on for those days.  Time Logged In has dropped and I'm sure if someone made a profile change it wouldn't be there.

I went under the link I posted, and I've counted about 50-65 posts that were made last night that were not moved over.  We advised all members not to post, but instead, everyone posted, which is why everything is lower, including the time logged in.

Everything is saved in a database, which is called howrude_smf2.  This database stores all the information for the forums, gallery, and the chat; which is why your logins can work on all 3.  Posts, profile information, forums, and more (about 63 MB) is saved in this very long file (about 100,000 lines in all).  This is what I spent 3 1/2 hours uploading last night (till 1:30am EST) to make sure that we didn't suffer any downtime, which we didn't.  I apologize if posts are missing, but that is why I posted the link to the old forum. If people want to move posts, go right ahead, but it better be done fast because eventually that account will be shutdown by x10 for inactivity.

Avrilfan- no this does not mean a change in servers.  We are already on the fan-sites.org server.... this move took place late last night into early Friday morning.  I'm still moving stuff over as we speak...

I believe there are posts from both  the 9th, the10th, and the 11th wiped away.  To me recollection there weren't many posts made last night (and zero depending on what time you're talking about), so the 50-65 posts you speak of would have to have been spread a fair bit of time before then (as in anything between the 8th and the new posts made now).  So I'm sure a good deal of the ones that were lost were posted before the conversion to the new host was started (unless it had been started earlier than last night, which it doesn't sound like it did).  I know I certainly didn't make 50 some posts in one day recently, and judging from which ones that have disappeared it kind of adds up.

Yeah, there weren't that many posts last night, but we did give 2 days worth of warnings that we were moving the site.  However, for some reason, the MySQL database backup doesn't contain these new posts, which means that they were never added to the database to begin with.  I'm searching through the file to find the missing posts, and if I do find them then I'll upload them into the current database.  If not, then they will just have to be reposted if they are important, like the new chatroom thread.

I'm just curious how some of the old posts were still visible to be reposted while that isn't possible now (using the Painting Houses thread as an example).  Sorry if I'm sounding picky, lol.  I'm acutally curious how this works.

it's kind of a long explanation :

I *think* when Paul made the backup of the database containing the posts, people were still posting.

So it's like saving a file, and then typing more and saving it as something else.  When you open the first  thing you saved it as, you only see what you had typed up until then

But the posts are still on the x10 database.
