Bubble Wrap
« on: October 13, 2007, 12:41:25 AM »
I was just thinking about bubble wrap and how interested people can get into something that is normally used as packaging material.  I myself have to admit it's pretty fun popping them, especially when you have the jumbo sized ones. sm5

Ahaha, I love bubble wrap. I used to take it when my parents ordered things and lay it across the floor, jumping on 'em.

I remember it always being a big thing when we went to our one grandparents' place.  My grandfather had always been into woodworking and such and some of the materials he had seemed to come with it.  So we'd just have to stretched out across the basement and pop away.

I was just bad about getting yelled at for it. My parents liked to keep it around for certain things and by the time they needed it, my sister and I had already popped 'em to death. ;D

My response would have been something like, "You'll get another one the next time you order soemthing, so why worry about this one?"  Thankfully it never really got to that, perhaps my parents actually agreed with me on that.

Yeah, they did get a whole lot more after they were all popped. I don't know, I guess my parents just worried about my decided to bite them and choke myself with them though. I was about eight or so when I popped them a lot, but I knew a whole lot better than to put the stuff in the mouth, or around my head.

Lol, I wouldn't have even thought of doign something like that.  I always got annoyed when one of the bubble just wouldn't pop, so I'd go find utensil to have the last laugh.  ;)  Come to think of it, those were pretty silly times.

I got rocks from our little drive and brought them inside and stabbed the bubble wrap with it, haha. I was an abusive little girl. Yeah, they were pretty silly. Actually, I really miss those times. I had nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  It's almost kind of why I appreciate things like it so much now (you can kind, even if it's only temporary, forget everything else and just have a little fun with something you used to do).  But knowing me, I'd be going after the bubble wrap if I came across it regardless. sm4

Yep, same. When I see it at work, I'm found with the bubble wrap, poppin' it while my manager looks at me like a weirdo, ahah.

I don't think I've actually come across for a little while now though.  I was actually inspired to make this tread by a piece a styrofoam happening to be around the computer (not that they're the same thing, but hopefulyl you can see where I connect that).

Haha. Same thing in my head, I crumble that stuff up into the little balls, ahaha. I haven't seen bubble wrap in a good two months or so though. Wonder when I'll see it again.

-joining the conversation-

Very interesting/random topic. I love bubble wrap. So fun to pop. I have no idea why, though. And I haven't seen it in a while either, although my teacher just got a new whiteboard in...-evil grin- I don't know if they use bubble wrap for that, though. sm4

I've actually seen them come in three sizes now that I think about it.  There's the normal, the jumbo (which I've mentioned), and the mini.  With the mini you can basically pop several at once with your finger, so it's not quite as fun.  Jumping on them is actually quite fun as well.  It has a cushioning surface of some sort, and usually the impact makes quite a bit of noise. sm5

I used to like popping bubble wrap when I was younger. Now I just consider it a waste of bubble wrap that could be reused.
