Virus :(

I'm posting this from my mom's laptop... I think my computer might have a virus and I got a warning that I need to backup everything on my computer because it might crash... and I can't back it up because I can't access anything because it's been loading for the past 20 minutes (I'm not kidding, it's been 20 minutes about.) So if this is the case, I won't be on until it's fixed, god only knows how long that will be.  I'm on MSN though if you wanna talk.

Oh no, that's too bad, fhfreak.   Hopefully you get that problem fixed as soon as possible, although it's tough to say.  Thanks for letting us know anyways.

That sucks. My dad would go batshit insane if a virus that bad hit our comp. Good luck fighting it off.

Yeah... I really don't know what I'm going to do because I just told my dad and he said "good luck." And he said before if anything happens to my computer he's not even gonna try fixing it... I'll find out someway.

That's tough.  I guess fortunately for us we have a couple of desktops on top of the laptop I use, so I have alternatives in case something goes wrong.  The one I'm on right now seems to have trouble from time to time but it's okay right now.  Good luck in finding a way out of that.

My computer did the same thing it crashed at it took us like 3 months to get it back up which is why I was gone for so long before Marchdays this year.

I would say you should try a fire wall or something like Norton anit-virus it works for us.

If it's that bad of a virus, you're actually better off reloading it, despite the actuality of losing everything. That's about the only true way to get rid of most viruses.

Fhfreak, if your laptop has completely crashed and won't start, then what you'll probably have to do is reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows. You'll lose all the information on your hard drive, but your computer will work again. And if you can't load anything on your computer you've essentially lost all your files anyways. Any store that does computer repairs will most likely do this for you if you don't know how.

aw that sucks!  good luck saving your stuff lol....my computer crashed once b/c of a virus it got from Kazaa or whatever....it was a long time ago though so I don't remember if we lost everything or not

I find it best to put any picture you might have and such on a disc because that way if your computer crashes you will still have everything. Trust me I have learned the hard way.

yeah most of my important stuff (pictures and music haha can't you just tell I've got my priorities in order?) are backed up to CD's b/c my computer is pretty much archaic.

 I named it Terry. That's short for Pterodactyl. It was BFF's with the dinosaurs back in the day.

Our one desktop is kind of messed up, but I don't think it's a virus. Certain things just don't work.  You can't watch videos or use applications that change without moving to a new URL (i.e. polls that don't load a new page or games).  I don't really know what's up with it but I seldom use it now.  The one good thing is forums can still be fine.
