Movies You Can't Remember The Name Of
« on: January 23, 2008, 03:19:47 AM »
I thought this would be kind of an interesting thread, partly inspired on people talking about books where the title escaped them.  I guess the same thing can work for movies.  If other people know it they can help them out with it as well, although with the one I'll say here I doubt it.

I remember quite a long time ago certain parts of a movie that I guess would be considered a thriller type one. It was about this woman who in some kind of relationship with this guy.  He was kind of abusive and there was a scene where he used scissors to cut her.  Later on she eventually kills him with the same scissors.  I'm confident I didn't manage it and I must have seen it on TV or something when I wasn't supposed to (I couldn't have been more than 7 or 8 at the time, so even though it didn't bother me my parents wouldn't have wanted me watching it).  I have no idea about the details other than this.

I saw part of a movie once on comedy central, where the main character, a janitor went through the story of his life. I forget the title though obviously, it was several years ago and late at night.

I saw this one movie once on Lifetime, where there was this family and they hired a nanny who then killed the wife and tried to get closer to the husband, to do what I have no idea (I didn't see all of it) but probably, you know, a romance-type situation. I don't remember anything else besides the fact that there was a blonde daughter named Darcy. But I can't remember the name. It bugs me every once in a while. sm4

When you said nanny I was thinking of the movie "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle", but I haven't actually and I don't know how much the plot mirrors what you said or not.  I don't think it was a Lifetime so that might be the end to that answer right there.

Oh, okay, that has David Spade in it right?  If you had known that I probably would have ben able to tell you.  Without a performer's name it's almost impossible to figure out without someone else telling you.

There are a few I can never remember the names who play secondary roles in several movies, but most of the big ones I know.  Of course with some movies there aren't well known performers so one is out of luck then.

One movie I can't remember (I never actually saw it, I just remember from the commercials on TV) came out either in theatres or on DVD around October 2001, and all I remember is it had a line like this:

"Your dog has a twisted look on his face."
"That's because you're looking at its butt."

My family had just gotten a dog around this time, and it became a line that we used a lot, but I can't remember what movie it was from...

Hmm, I remember that line too, but I don't remember the name.  Couldn't find anything on a google search, so I guess the only real way to tell would be by someone knowing.  Welcome back, by the way. ;)

Thanks :) I clicked on the "show last posts" for me, and apparently it was my first post since last June...

Hmm yeah, it had been a while.  We've actually had a couple peple from a ways back reappear recently.  Anyways about the movie you said.  How were able to get such a specific timeline, j/w? It's interesting.  Do you remember if it was a cartoon or live action move at least, or any other details?

I remember because my dad was camcording (and the date on the video was Oct '01) and during the recording he quoted the line (while my dog's butt was facing the camera :D).

It was a live-action movie, because I vaguely remember seeing the actual dog in the scenes. For some reason I think one of the characters had a British accent, but I could be wrong about that...

Hmm, interesting backdrop there, lol.  I guess we can conclude that neither of us saw the movie at the very least.  Maybe some IMDb sleuthing would do the trick, if I ever got around to it.  I think I did for the one I mentioned once, but no luck.

i don't know if this is from a movie or a show... there's a scene where some kids are playing baseball and the kid up at bat hits the ball than they ask to do next and everybody yells, "run home" so the kid litterally runs home. i remember in elementary school my whole class was talking about that scene but i can't remember where it's from. it's been bothering for soo long! i thought it was from full house but apparently not. it was either from a "tgif" show or some '90s movie.
