Yeah, I had the extended version and I think I liked that one more when I liked FH.

I guess the theme song went through 3 or 4 changes during the run of the show.  There was the original long version, the standard we saw for a while, and the even more shortened later on.  It's possible there were more, but I'd have to check.  There was a site that had them all listed with a clip.

This is likely how the theme song appaears on the dvds, and how it appeared during the show's original run. If my memory serves me correctly, they shorten the credits on some of the seasons when they run the episodes in syndicated reruns.

On the DVD's, I think that there are a few more clips, especially in the earlier seasons.  It got kind of annoying how they shortened it over time.  I actually really like the full version with the bridge and everything.

How often do you hear the full version with the bridge, Mikayli?  I guess Leftturn's idea is correct, because I've seen most episode from at least beyond season 2 to be shortened somewhat (at least without the section of the song some people don't know).

My recollection of watching them in syndication is that seasons 3-5 have a shorter theme song than 1&2, but not not as short as seasons 6&7. I think they still leave in the line "when I get to living here, somebody tell me please", which is omitted from seasons 6&7.

Okay, and then for the first two it also has "This whole world's confusing me..." and so on?

Yeah, the first two have the part "proud to be anywhere you've been, in a world you know so true/then a little voice inside you whispers/don't sell your dreams so soon", and seasons 3-5 do'nt in syndication.

Okay yeah.  Now that I just see them from a recording I usually skip the opening credits, but that makes.  I enjoy this one a lot more than the Step By Step theme song, which was also done by Jesse Frederick (at least I thought that was his name; I'm too lazy to look it up, lol).
