T.G.I.F. Questions
« on: March 20, 2008, 03:40:00 AM »
My name is Chelsea and I am completing my undergraduate degree at Christopher Newport University in Communication Studies. As part of the fulfillment of my degree requirements, I am conducting research on how audiences perceive the changes of family sitcoms in media discourse and how the narrative of family has changed through family sitcoms, given the current trends in TV programming. The following survey is designed to help me finish this project.

In order to participate in this survey you must fulfill the following requirements:

-Be familiar with T.G.I.F. when it was originally on air.

-Be willing to provide helpful feedback.

Your participation in this survey will be anonymous and confidential. By answering the questions on this survey, you volunteer to participate willingly, and consent to let me use your responses as part of my final research.

The survey is accessible through the link below:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=ctLfqlrhzrIOpZ4rFeo1MQ_3d_3d

Thanks in advance! :)

Chelsea

I was thinking of this going somewhere but I don't think it fits into any one category too well.  It's somewhat a link and also not really advertising.  The rest of the staff can move it if they aren't comfortable with it here.

Anyways, appreciate you joining the forum.  I personally did not experience the T.G.I.F. lineup in its original run, so I guess I cannot really say for sure.  We've had a couple people here be a part of that demographic, but not many as we have a very young general age here.  If we can still help out if we are aware of the T.G.I.F. era well enough, I'd be glad to, but I won't unless you say so. :)

SweetMichelle if I recall correctly was one other I remember being aronud for the original run, and maybe Marte?

So I guess you can clarify that the majority are out of the picture, then, CaLove?

Nope, I never saw it during it's original run.

P.S. 27 isn't old.

Lol, well I consider myself old. sm4  I know you didn't really see TGIF, but didn't you speculate you might have seen the second last episode in its original run?  I thought you said that once as a possibility.

LMFAO I somehow found that funny... and he's right I think 27 is young LOL I wish I was 27 my whole life.  Out of school... legal gambling and drinking age... I can get peircings and tattoos without a parental consent thing... AND I CAN MOVE OUT.  lol

I wish I coulda seen FH in it's original run... I probably could of but I'd only be like 1 or 2.  It ended in 95, right?  I can't remember lol.

Yeah, '95.  I would have been 6 I guess, so I could have but didn't.  For some reason I did watch slightly more serious sitcoms at the time though, on top of cartoons. sm5  Even then it's not like you'd remember everything about it that might have if you were a little older.

Sorry, I never speculated that. What I have said is that I saw All Stood Up as a rerun in early 1996 on FOX.

Even if you were too young to watch ALL of TGIF's run while it was on air, but did watch a couple years, that's fine and you can still fill out the survey. I can't be too picky right now because I haven't received many completed surveys at all, so I am in desperate need since I need to graduate! Haha... my research is really all about how much the narratives of television have changed, trying to figure out why the popularity of family sitcoms like those in the 80's/90's has died off, etc. So, yea... please please please fill out the survey today if you've seen any of TGIF!  :) Thanks again, everyone!

Alright, I guess I'll try to help out then.  I'll base it off that becuase I've seen various promos and many of the programs.  And I've completed it! :D

Okay, close though, lol.  A little less than 10 years ahead of me. sm5
