Eliminating Two Seasons
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:45:32 PM »
So I figured I'd see what everyone would do if they had to eliminate two seasons.  I thought most people would pick season as 1, so it makes it a little more diverse for people with a second.  I'll go against that logic anyways by saying 7 and 8 though. :P

well, I would say season one, but I kind of feel like if you don't have season one as a background you'd be a bit lost :P lol so I'm gonna have to say seasons 5 and 7.....

That's kind of an interesting choice.  Imagine the jump between the character when one of the years is missing in the middle, lol.  What really spurred you to make those choices?

Yeah I don't think that you could really cut any middle seasons, because it wouldn't make much sense skipping like that.  So it would have to be 1 and 2 or 7 and 8.  I think I'll have to go with 7 and 8 because the first and second season are sort of important for background and all.

Or 1 and 8 is a possibility as well, which would have been my second choice.  You obviously can go with any combination you see fit.  It all depends on how you think it would affect the series or if that matters to you at all.

probably 3 and 7, neither of them had had a 2 part, I mean both of them had good episodes, but nothing really happened in either of them.  I don't think there was any main character introduced either.

Season 1- Just introduced everyone and the main family + Kimmy
Season 2- Introduced Becky
Season 3- Comet (oh well lol)
Season 4- No one but it had the wedding, Jesse's  band got a little bigger
Season 5- The twins + Jesse gets a record deal, and Vicky comes in
Season 6- Steve comes in the picture
Season 7- Jesse gets to own the Smash Club, Gia comes in the picture but she doesn't have a big role
Season 8- Nothing much I guess... ends the show.

Lol, nice walkthrough, fhfreak. I guess if you're basing this on the new happenings or just if you think if it's overall of a good quality.  Season 3 for instance I consider to be one of the best for quality even if the storylines are prettymuch self-supported.    I didn't for the most part a lot of the "landmark" episodes were all that special compared to some less memorable episodes.

I would lean towards seasons 3 and 6, probably my two least favorite and in my opinion the least important.

I dunno, I just never really liked those two as wholes.....and I mean the twins could have been born at the beginning of season 6 or something so it wouldn't be that big a deal IMO, I feel like neither one of those seasons contained all that much character development anyway....

Do you think a season needs character development to be considered one of the best?  A trend I often find is when a show is on top of its game the momentum is pretty much self-contained in what it is, and when this momentum is lost or has yet to really take off these tweaks and additions are more necessary.  Just my opinion.  Granted 5 and 7 really aren't my favorites, but I'm being like you csoup and discussing for the sake of principle. sm5

Wow, lol, two of my very favorites, especially 3.

I just was a bit bored by Season 3, it did have a few good episodes though, like Just Say No Way or Tanner Island.

What was your favorite season and what do you attribute to as the reason?  I do notice with season 3 that much of what takes place is pretty much centered on the family still, and in other years this might have been more expansive.  I generally liked those cozier episodes a little more, but maybe that's different for you.

My favorite season is probably 4, that's mainly because of someof the great episodes like Rock the Cradle and lots of key events with Becky and Jesse.

I think that all the middle seasons were necessary, as well as some of the best seasons.  I think that in the beginning they were still kind of working the whole story and all the characters out, and near the end it got kind of dry and they sort of ran out of good plots.  So therefore I actually think that seasons 1 and 8 would be the ones to eliminate, as long as more background was provided in season 2.  Also, A House Divided would have made a great final episode, better than Michelle Rides Again in my opinion.

Yeah, that's a fair assessment I guess.  It would have been my choice after the one I went with.  I like season 1 more than most people.  Maybe things weren't as interesting yet but I found the characters fairly likable and the moments with the girls were generally strong.
