Radical change at HR
« on: September 21, 2008, 05:15:21 AM »
For those of you who would have otherwise probably never have known, there was an impeachment incident that was filed by link against fhfreak an hour ago. I thought going through the whole thing, that if a compromise was not reached, the formal impeachment process would have taken at least a week, and may have even stretched toward a month, because the majority of our staff no longer shows up on a regular basis; this, however, reflects the overall state of the forum. It's pretty safe to say that if HR was a person, we'd be long retired; we're pretty much living day by day with no long term ambitions, and things overall are pretty peaceful here. However, if anything breaks out like what happened just recently, our quite formal system of solving things would be very dire and inappropriate for the current state of the forum.

This would lead me to therefore propose that HR undergo radical changes; we cut all staff except for of course Fishy, and the coadmin FHF, who from here on forward would be called a "guard" (or another name if that is what FHF would like to call herself), because FHF is not actually administrating anything here, but more or less on the lookout if anything totally screws up. No hard feelings about no longer being able to see the mod board, because the mod boards will have no purpose and therefore be terminated and its edited archives published for all to see (all edited contents going to a board created for that purpose that only the admin and guard can access). In terms of sociology, we would be transitioning from a society to a tribe. The guard solves all disputes unless the admin is available; the guard's word is final except if the admin objects. When the guard resigns, the admin picks the successor unless she exhibits no preference, in which case the leaving guard picks the successor; the guard can also be removed for whatever reason at the admin's discretion.

I know my opinion doesn't matter so much these days, considering I'm hardly ever on here and everything anymore, but I agree about it all. Considering the small amount of members that actually post on here, we've got entirely too much staff and well, it's not healthy. The forum is extremely slow and while I understand everybody goes to school and they have their own life, most of what is being posted these days is well, to be honest, completely ridiculous. I really don't think I take this forum so seriously anymore, compared to how I felt about it about a year and a half ago or so.

I'm also getting tired of all this stuff that's going on outside the forum being dragged on in here too. Now I don't think this is a thread where I need to be stating the obvious or anything, considering I'm slightly going off-topic, but it's something that's been bugging me for a good couple of months now. I think right now I'll even go as far to say that half the stuff just being posted in general is uncalled for. All of it's immature and well, frankly I'm pretty sad to see HR heading in the direction it's at. I never in my life thought that the future of HR would end up being filled with such... nonsense.

Obviously with the impeachment though, I would've, like you stated, never known, but that's to be expected among a simple member. Question is though, how would that end up going into effect? Er... well, that's a simple question, but given the state of the forum like you mentioned -- about the staff and everything.

I agree that the staffing here is unnecesary. But I think instead of shrinking the govenors of the forum down to simply FHF and fishy I think we might be better off leaving the discussion that would take place in the mods board open to all for SOME THINGS. Obviously disciniplinary actions would not be the case. The Input board could in a sense replace the brainstorming and additions/changes we normally lay out in the mod board. If that were the case I think we might even see an increase in intrest by some members.
I'm back

I am definitely fine with a complete change in the staff structure.  We should probably make sure to iron out all the details first as with anything, but yeah I heard a bit more about it last night in the chat too.

I think that that would be okay considering that not so many people post here as much.  I'm just getting kind of depressed because we seem to be heading in a sort of downward spiral recently. :(

I haven't realized (recently, I mean) that this has been happening, but I can kind of see that it's getting a bit dull here. As much as I wish I could do something about it, I don't think I can just because of the sheer amount of work I've got to get through this semester..
I mean  I won't delete HR until there's NO ONE left here, so it's safe in that respect sm4

I would rather we just discuss the impeachement of fhfreak, and not contemplate any further changes until such time as this issue is dealt with.

This is all I will say for now. My space bar isn't working right (needs to be pushed down really hard to register a space), so as much as possible, I'm trying to stay away from typing, until it gets sorted out.

What exactly did fhfreak do exactly anyway?  I don't think it was mentioned.

Oh yeah and also I hate when my space bar stops working.  When that happens I sometimes leave out spaces altogether.

Ya thoes changes are ok with me to. I agree that the activity here has gone dow, mostly because everyone is busy with other things, which is perfectly understandable.

I kind of think that while there's no real reason to keep the staff as is, there's no real reason to change it either....I mean who cares if there's too much staff?  it's not doing any harm and it's not like there's really much going on here anyway :P lol

That's just kind of up in the air right now.  We won't really worry about that issue unless further information occurs.

I'd rather not talk about it when it comes to what I did because it'll just end up in another stupid fight and I don't feel like bringing the topic up because I'll build up too much anger and explode :P

But I agree with the whole staff thing.  We have more staff members than regular active members it seems lol.

That's not really too surprising.  Staff has always amounted to the majority of the most active members, though obviously it might be more the case than at times in the past.  But yeah I definitely want to hear what everyone has to say about this (and we've heard a fair amount of people already).
