Songs You Want to Hear on the Radio
« on: September 29, 2008, 02:58:21 AM »
So basically what are some songs/bands that you would really make your day if you heard it on the radio? Don't go with ones you like that get a lot of airplay, but other than that you can pretty much say what you want. ;D

I'll go my predictable choices by saying most of the Beach Boys catalogue after 1966 (seldom ever played even when it would be a releant choice for the music type).  Even before that their music is kind of stuck in between oldies and classic rock and isn't overly heard on either.  At least that's the case where I am.  In other places I've heard it is quite a lot better in that regard.

But at the same time I wouldn't want this all the time.  It would just be a treat to hear a dark horse song I really love once in a blue moon when I don't have to find it on a CD.  The spontaneity is the thrill of the radio IMO.

I would love to hear David Rovics on the radio. He's a far-left/anarchist folk singer. Of course, only the alternative community radio will ever play his music. Commercial radio won't go near him with a ten foot pole.

I just LOVE it when my favorite songs play on the radio, especially when it's rare to hear it on there! Like FHF said, the spontaneity is what brings the excitement.
I wish I heard We the Kings on the radio (I've NEVER heard a song from them on radio yet), Tiffany, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, any indie band, and "Borderline" by Madonna (which I haven't heard on the radio since last year! D:)
Lmao, the radio is a big part of my life. :D I prefer listening to the radio more than listening to songs by my own choice.

I only listen to the radio when on a car trip really.  I do love those moments like I said when a song seldom heard on there plays, but I think it's so seldom that I generally don't dig listening to it, lol.  I think some time I'll make a request and hope they end up playing something. ;D  Most of what I said in the original post is how I would probably still feel now, lol.

You're an idiot for only listening to the radio in the car. Don't you know you should listen to the radio all the time.

Lol, jk, I don't care how often you listen to the radio.

Haha, that reminds me of during my road trip, I listened to the radio the WHOLE time. What I never realized before though was that as the car is traveling to a different city, the radio stations change. I was like, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS THING?!" And thought about it for a while...then came the epiphany about the antenna picking up different signals. sm5

Hmm, well I always knew you were a genius, Paris. :D  I can usually tell as the station gets more staticy.  It's frustrating when it happens and you're listening to something you actually like.

On this topic, I was thrilled to hear a semi-obscure Beach Boys song on the radio the other day.  Not my favourite or anything, and still a minor hit, but something I never thought I'd ever hear on that station.  That kind of made my day, lol.
