I still think Jodie was a better actress...
« on: February 25, 2010, 02:05:23 AM »
...when she was younger.

I'm coming out of left field with this, lol, and I don't expect to get too much of a discussion going, but it came to me so it can't hurt.

But yeah, anyways, I tend to think the character she was playing felt more like a real person than she did in later years.  Then again, I haven't seen some of the episodes in ages.  This idea just came into my head so I thought I'd share.  Your thoughts?

I sort of agree. Though, even when she was older, she still seemed like a real, relatable person. I think she was a better actress than anyone on the show.  Most of the episodes that revolve around her are among my favorites.

I agree! I perfer the young jodie because she was chippper and had a catchy catchphrase! I think Jodie Sweeten wrote a book about her life when she was doing drugs and alchahol..I still respect her!
"Some dont believe he ever existed, but that isnt true. He was here, and he was real. The real question is what was he, and why was he here. Many rumors speculate as to what he was. Some believe he was some kind of demon worm creature who would pose as a librarian. Others believed he was an angel sent to spread the word of god. The truth is, I dont know what he was. All I know is what he taught me. Love, friendship, and what it means to truly live. Some call him a monster, something children are terrified by. I only know him by what he called himself. Weird 4." - nicest comment ever!

I'd say John Stamos is up there as well, although he's more of an actor than he is an actress. ;D But yeah,  I'm not saying her acting skills were lost as the show went on but more that she seemed so dead on as a precocious girl in some of the earlier seasons.  That might be a combination of how she was very intelligent for her age at the time and that the writing was able to get a good grasp of her character.

Yeah, I definitely think I liked her better in the earlier seasons too.  I think part of it was also the way that the writers changed Stephanie's character near the end too, though, trying to make her more mature than she should have been and everything.  I really didn't like that, and the major change in Stephanie's character is a big part of why I really don't like season 8.

I would agree, especially when you compare her to DJ in making that transition.  I wouldn't say DJ had her character identity completely overhauled once she became a teenager, but with Stephanie I'm a little less sure.
