A New Series: The Jones Family (Disaster)
« on: January 20, 2006, 08:49:48 PM »
It's a new series I was writing, it's based on the family from The Sims 2 that I created, and it's a...story about life, I guess you could call it.

Chapter 1:
The Jones Family: Disaster

Chapter 1
?Katie, pass me the ball next time! We would have actually scored!? Lila shouted. It was Friday afternoon basketball practice, and they were playing a fake game to warm up for real ones. Lila got very aggravated sometimes when people didn?t do what they were supposed to and cost the team a basket or a chance to do something else. She liked basketball very much, but she wasn?t a play-for-fun kind of person. She was a play-to-win person. Sometimes she liked winning more than the actual sport of basketball. She was the star player on her team, and usually the top scorer in all their games. Though they hadn?t won any yet, but they only had 3 so far.
After practice, Lila didn?t really have anything to look forward to. Her tennis lessons weren?t until Sunday (you see, she wanted to become a very good tennis player, and maybe go professional one day, so she always looked forward to her lessons) and at home she had to watch her brother, James, who was 10 (and into skateboarding), and her baby sister, Lucy, who was 2. Her father, Bob, was looking for a new job, because his didn?t pay enough to feed 3 children and his wife. Amelia, his wife, was looking for work as well, although she never had a job in the first place. She was pretty young, but then again, so was Bob. They had gotten married when he was 25 and she was 23, and now they?re 38 and 36, which is kind of young for a couple with 3 children. Lila was 13, and in 8th grade at a private Christian school. She thought she didn?t have a very good life?her only pleasures were basketball and tennis.
?I found one!? exclaimed Bob. He was job-searching in the newspaper, and had obviously found a job he was interested in. ?What is it this time?? asked Amelia. You see, Bob had found millions of jobs, but then Amelia turned down each one (because they were supposed to make choices together, that was Amelia?s philosophy for a perfect family). ?Listen to this: Lawyer needed- Must have gone to law school and have experience.? Amelia answered him ?Hmm?this one might be a good one. Lawyers get paid a lot, and that?s a good thing. And you once had a job as a lawyer, and you went to law school. How much does it pay?? ?$700 a week,? Bob answered. ?Wow, that?s pretty good,? Amelia said. ?Take it!? Bob then said ?I think I will.?
Bob and Amelia heard the door slam and then heard ?I?M HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!? It must be Lila. ?Hi, Lila, how was practice?? Amelia asked. Lila walked into the room and answered ?Pretty good, but the team didn?t listen to the coach- or me. Even though I know they shouldn?t listen to me, they should listen to the coach.?
Amelia hugged her and said ?Guess what: your father found a new job!? ?Ooh, what?? Lila asked. ?A lawyer!? Bob said. Lila replied ?Oh?that means you?re going to be gone a lot, right? Just me, mom, James and Lucy?? Bob said ?Yes, I think so.?
?I?m here!? James said. ?Dad got a new job? Really?? Lila then said ?Yeah, he did, twerp. Now as soon as mom and dad get out of this house and go to dinner, I?m in charge- so I might as well practice- GO TO BED!? James opened his mouth rather wide and then said ?NO WAY! It?s only 5:00!? ?I was just kidding.? Lila said. ?Now what do you want for dinner??
?Goo!? Lucy said. ?Oh Lucy, I forgot about you! Hi mini-twerp!? Lila said. ?Ga!? Lucy replied. Amelia pointed to the refrigerator and said ?Dinner is in there: it?s leftover roast chicken for James and Lucy, and some veggie nuggets for you, Lila. And mashed potatoes, beans, the usual.? Lila thought it was an okay dinner, compared to what she usually had, spaghetti without any sauce because they ran out or just a bagel or some cereal. Occasionally she even had to eat a sandwich instead. ?Why do you always go out so much?? James asked. Lila thought ?It?s like he?s some kind of mind-reader! I was thinking the same thing?hmm?I wonder if they?re planning another baby??. ?Well, it?s just what we do. We have the right to,? Bob replied. James stuttered and then said ?I wasn?t saying you didn?t, I was just wondering?? but then Lila cut in and said ?Are you planning another baby? Please don?t, I can?t afford ANOTHER kid to baby-sit!?
?Silly,? Amelia said. ?We?re not planning another baby- believe me- three?s enough, more than enough! Lila playfully hit her mother. ?Anyway, it?s time to go, Amelia,? Bob said. ?Okay, bye kids!? Amelia said. Lila was annoyed at being called a child and a kid, so she boldly said ?I?m not a kid, I?m a teenager. Bob said ?Well fine, bye toddler and child and teenager. Happy now?? he finished, obviously mocking Lila. ?Be quiet Dad,? she replied. Then Bob and Amelia left. ?Okay kids, to bed.? James didn?t argue, he was feeling very tired, and of course Lucy couldn?t argue, she couldn?t even talk! So Lila tucked them both in for bed, and then checked on them a few minutes later, and both were asleep.
?What should I do?? Lila asked herself quietly. ?I guess I?ll go outside and practice my basketball plays?or maybe some tennis. So she stepped outside the back door and played some basketball and tennis. Her life sounds pretty good, doesn?t it? Find out more later?
