French Language Version of HR?
« on: January 20, 2007, 05:54:32 PM »
HR is majorly missing out on the European market. I told Guillame I kind of had an idea of doing a foreign language version of HR, and he said he could help translate if it was French. I looked at our traffic information, and our top 3 non-English countries were: France, the Netherlands, and Belgium. All 3 of these countries have a higher than average understanding of the French language (2 of them speak it as the main tongue), and I think a French language version has serious potential. What do you think?

Sounds interesting. I would go for it if you have it all set with a translator and everything, which it looks like you do.

If he'll translate it for us (which would be awesome) then I say go for it.

MT Fan- We would be the first multi-language FH site, which sounds really cool considering most of our traffic comes from the United States and Europe.  We could have the site translated into French, Spanish, and maybe German since those our the three biggest countries in Europe.  And then if we have a big outcome we could translate it into other languages and still keep the site English.

Wow cool!! So basically he'd be listed as part of our staff under "French translator"?  For the Cbox I guess we should get a separate one for French speakers so it doesn't get too confusing.
and we could have French SMF forums hosted on the server...

The only thing I'm worried about is switching the layout - that part might prove difficult... (oh and another minor worry is Guillame's going to have to translate a LOT of pages)
...Quel culot!!

Looks pretty good.  Maybe it will help me with some French.  ;)  Hopefully this ends up being at least relatively successful.

Wow BL! I didn't know you took french. I'd need a translator on words I didn't know..
"Some dont believe he ever existed, but that isnt true. He was here, and he was real. The real question is what was he, and why was he here. Many rumors speculate as to what he was. Some believe he was some kind of demon worm creature who would pose as a librarian. Others believed he was an angel sent to spread the word of god. The truth is, I dont know what he was. All I know is what he taught me. Love, friendship, and what it means to truly live. Some call him a monster, something children are terrified by. I only know him by what he called himself. Weird 4." - nicest comment ever!
