I don't really watch it at all, but I would love to check out some of those 80's and 90's performances by now popular comedians.

This shows awesome. I like watching the reruns with Eddie Murphy, but its still awesome now. I liked when Drew Barrymore was on it and she went for the Job interview. That was funny.

No way. SNL was best during the 70s, when it had such cast members as:

Bill Murray
Dan Akroyd
John Belushi

ect.

My two all-time favourite SNL sketches are from the 70s:

1. The Blues Brothers sketch (Dan Akroyd and John Belushi)
2. Bill Murrary doing a lounge act version of the Star Wars theme.

I think they changed the cast members after the first four seasons. It was never quite the same after that, although it was still good up through the mid-90s. However, I can't stand SNL in its current form.

Although I really haven't seen a lot of episode from any decade, I know a lot from the 80's and 90's.  The 70's soudn great too.  My concept of the show wasn't particularly defined so I went with the ones I knew for sure about.  Some notable ones who appeared in the 80's and 90's...

Jane Curtin
Teri Garr
Bill Murray
Gilda Radner
Harry Shearer
Chevy Chase
Peter Aykroyd
Dana Carvey
Phil Hartman
Jon Lovitz
Mike Myers
Jim Belushi
Billy Crystal
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Martin Short
Eddie Murphy
Kevin Nealon
Chris Farley
Rob Schneider
Adam Sandler
David Spade
Will Ferrell
Chris Rock

And there's probably a lot.  There really were a ton, lol.

I love SNL! I watch it every nigh =]
My favorite cast members are Chris Farley, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Molly Shannon, Chevy Chase and Steve Martin. They still have some funny comedians on there now; I love Andy Samberg and Mia Rudoph. And there's another guy whos really funny, I can't remember his name though. But the writers aren't that great anymore...

I like the digital shorts, especially The OC spoof, "Dear Sister" when Shia Labeouf hosted :]]

I don't know if it's just the way it is in show business today or just me (or SNL), but it seems pretty clear SNL isn't generating as many huge comedic stars as it used to (some of the lineups in the 70's and 80's are like all-stars, lol). I don't really watch it enough now to sya how great it is, but it feels like the last real wave of several big stars was the late 90's.

SNL's awesome. There's hardly anything else on on Saturday night, so I usually watch that.
