B-plots you wish were A-plots
« on: May 12, 2007, 08:31:07 AM »
Were there any b-plots on FH that you wish were a-plots?
(Obviously, any b-plot that becomes an a-plot needs to be expanded.)

Here's a list a b-plots I wish were a-plots:

The Steph, DJ & Kimmy plot from The Devil Made Me Do It.

The Nolan Ryan Baseball Card plot from Please Don't Touch The Dinosaur.

The Kimmy dating Nelson on the rebound plot from I've Got a Secret.

The guitarist auditions plot from To Joey, With Love.

Off the top of my head there's...

The horoscope plot with Steph, DJ, and Kimmy.

The B-story in Bye Bye Birdie where Steph was intruding on DJ's diary.

I'm sure there are probably a lot more.  These are ones where I found the B-stories to be superior to the A-stories.  I'm sure they could have been expanded upon to make it have more of an impact.

Oh yeah, DJ and Steve together @ the prom would make an awesome A-plot rather than a B-plot. As for other plots, can't really think of any right now.

Oh yah, I forgot about that one. It definitely deserved to be an A-plot.

The horoscope plot would have been good as an A-plot. The Michelle plot in that episode was just terrible.

Although I love the B-plot from Bye Bye Birdie, I also like the A-plot. It was one of the better Michelle A-plots plots IMO. Michelle's first day of preschool isn't something I would want to get rid of. Michelle does deserve some A-plots, and there wern't many Michelle A-plots in season 3.

If you ask me, you could have scrapped that Michelle plot altogether in that one, and give more time for any other (even if only because it is too dramatic to be B-story material to begin with).  The from one was definitely most suitable for the finale though.  Good choice.

I don't disagree.  I didn't mind the A-story at all.  That idea could have been left very well alone.  I just think the B-story could have made a decent A-story on its own, even if it was a different episode.  There was potential to continue it on a little more.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with that 100%. I hated that. Those type of episodes didn't seem appealing to me.

I just find that the prom would have been greatly more fitting of a closure plot than the Michelle plot.  Did you prefer the finale the way it is?

Yeah, I liked the finale. I just don't think it would have been a good A plot.

I'm guessing you don't find the idea to be able to stand on its own very well.

Part of the thing that is so appealing about it to me is that it's tying up loose ends (and in an A-story would not be rushed for time) from other facets of the series,  as opposed to the completely new idea that came up out of the blue with the horseriding.

Another B plot I wish was an A plot was the one from Mr. Egghead, you know where Danny and DJ go to court about the traffic ticket thing.

I didn't mind that one, although I also love the A-plot for that one.  If it could have been made into an A-story in another episode, that would have been fine though.

Oh, how could I forget the B-story in Baby Love.  I loved that one.  I wasn't very fond of the flashback part in that episode with the A-story, although most of that was decent enough as well.  I think the part about Jesse and Becky regarding having Steph watch the movie and the aftermath ensuing could have been drawn out more.
