Taking Sentences Out Of Context
« on: June 09, 2007, 09:36:19 PM »
I thought this might be a funny little thread.  All you do is take lines from other people's posts around HR (or even your own if you want) and try to present in a way that it's misleading, nonsensical, or whatever else.

You can't reword their posts or anything, but you can use the
Code: [Select]
[s]...[/s] to cross out words.  Also, feel free to only include part of the person's post.  It's almost the whole point of the thread.  Let's see how this goes.  ;D

For example, from my own post...

Original - Well, much better than mine in paint. I think I'd be okay if it weren't for the annoying text. And then when I copy it out of WordPerfect, there's a horrible outline to go along with it.

New - Well, much better than min[/s]e in paint. I think I'd be okay if it weren't for the annoying text. And then when I copy it out of WordPerfect, there's a horrible outline to go along with it.

I do think it's good policy for Universities to mostly let in the students with the highest marks (there are some programs where other factors need to be considered as well, such as music programs). After all, universities want students who will succeed, so they can leverage grant money for research. If the marks required to get into university are too high, and I think they are, then it means that there are not enough university spaces to meet demand.

In the long term, things are a bit different, at least in Canada. Birth rates in Canada have been falling for the past 20 years. Thus the sutdent population will likely decline over the long term (although universities may make up for the decline through increased reliance on international students). Combined with increasing tuition costs, this increasingly makes ability to pay a greater factor in who gets into university. Already this has happened here, where some students with averages sufficient to get into university can't afford to
pay tuition costs, so students who might otherwise have averages slightly too low to get in, get offered a spot.

And one more..

I hate organized religion too, mostly b/c it's way too conservative. even though they do promote good morals for the most part ...

BL - I'd have to go with ignoring him. What's the worst that can happen if he really get(s) intense with his blog entries? Given people like popstar and AJ don't reply to him, he'll eventually just stop trying.

"I like escalators because an escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You'll never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience. We apologize that you can still get up there."

"I was in a casino, I was standing by the door, and a security guard came over and said 'You're gonna have to move. You're blocking the fire exit.' As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. Unless you are a table."

One of my own:
I feel more inclined to vote against his continued existence in the roleplay if he gets control of any character at all, the main thing he does is make them dumber, which for a show like Full House, isn't good at all. Not only does he make them dumber, but as leftturn points out, he makes them drama kings that don't contribute anything to any useful plot. I guess the thing that's making him appear worse was that he wasn't a very structured roleplayer to begin with, and with the new narration that's making him more structured, his sore thumb is even more apparent.

Sorry to post another, but I really couldn't resist this...

Original - Uhhhh me and my little sister sometimes get along, but usually she kills me by sticking her knife-sharp nails up my nose and scratching the inside of it. We fight alot, as in I lay on the floor and she jumps on my stomach. It's cool...well not really

From MT Fan's post in the "Joey and Danny Never Married" thread:

Don't you think it was a little odd that Joey and Danny never married. Both would be 38 by the end of the series. It just seems odd to me that eligible batchelors like them stayed single the entire series. Especially Joey he has never married or even been in a very serious relationship, it's just strange that he would stay single tht long. Danny is a bit more understandable considering he never got over Pam. Anyways what do you think.

Only mods who served for any time in the calendar year 2006 or later are being counted. In our early days, records are generally unreliable, considering how many of them we had.

PG-13 maybe?  ;D

I don't see what the heck you people see in him. I'm guessing all the girls voted for him because they are mezmorized by his looks and fail to see what an awful, pitiful singer he is. He could sing while gargaling and probably still stay on the show. My other opinion is votefortheworst.com picked them for their canidate the producers would HATE to see win, so the thousands of people whom support that website voted for him. I honestly think he is a joke and even if he wins American Idol his album will sell rock bottom with <100,000 copies. I voted "omg HE SUCKS" so you know.

After watching Stephanie's Wild Ride, I started thinking about Stephanie and Gias ages, coz they both claim to be 16 in the episode. Dunno if this has been discussed on here before tho..
What I think is really
weird, is all of a sudden they seem to be the same age in season 8, altho they would be actually 3 years apart if my math is right..
