Commercials }{ The good, the bad and the scary

I just remembered one from a long time ago that I liked.  I don't remember exactly what the product was (possibly some kind of pet chow), but it had all these cats and dogs in a classroom situation.  They were doing a jingle with the same tune as "If You're Happy And You Know It, Clap Your Hands".  It sounds annoying but the way they did was cute.

Yeah, most of the car commercials get really annoying, unless they make it almost completely unrelated to the product, lol.  Occasionally there will be quite a good one.  I dislike the ones that just have some announcer, showing a speedy car with someone in cool sunglasses and fast paced music.

Definitely have to agree with you on the Super Bowl commercial part. But all the ones you mentioned are good especially the "IDK, my BFF Jill?" And yes car commercials are getting weirder and weirder by the minute.

haha yes that one's classic....I have to say that my all-time faves have always been Nationwide commercials though:

`the MC Hammer one
`the baby in the carseat one
`the garage door one
`the one where there's this huge sequence of events and then somehow a boat is catapulted thru someone's roof....

I think they have some lists of the top ten commercial in some places.  Some of them are ridiculous, while others have become part of pop culture.  The "Whazzup" quotation certain was.

I don't really care for current commercials.  The "idk my bff jill" one is quite annoying, and they overplayed it way too much.  I like commercials from the '80/90s, the jingles were so catching ;)

Actually that's a good point.  I discovered some old commercials (there are a ton of those thing on Youtube, lol) and most of them were too old for me to remember or to have been around for.  It was covered in nostalgia and it makes me kind of annoyed that commercials are missing the element of fun to it.

The idea of the jingle has become "outdated" in the minds of American advertisers, and I don't think many of them quite realize it's only that way because they've basically been done in the same style since they were first done in the 1930s on the radio. I would love a rock jingle for an ad product; it would definitely catch my attention. I think a mistake many ad agencies make today is that they try too hard to be funny, because they almost always fail, unless you're in the alcohol business. :P

Yeah, so many commercials now seem to be one big joke, often in almost no relation to the product until you find out at the end.  I'd be more impressed with something that is short, simple, and to the point without being preachy.  It's almost one of those things where I feel in the new age of technology we are in now, things just don't quite have the appeal they used to.
