Did FH have too much Jesse?

I think there was a bit too much of Jesse on Full House. Jesse had by far the most lines of any character on the show. I also find I don't like some of the episodes that are heavily Jesse centred. Yet what really gets to me is how Jesse acts irationally so much of the time. How he isn't willing to admit that he doesn't know his stuff, that he can't make up his mind, that he's afraid of the future, ect.

I think Full House would have been better if they'd toned down Jesse's character a bit, got rid of some of the heavily Jesse centred episodes, and reduced Jesse's overall number of lines.

I agree he appeared in a lot of episodes, but I never felt he was overused. He was a very important character because a lot changed for him like having his own family and all the stuff with his band.

I voted for a bit too much, because I mean there was A LOT of Jesse episodes that dealt with Jesse, he was the only one who got married and had kids on the show (other than Danny with DJ, Michelle, and Stephanie) and I think he almost stole the show.

I voted for "Maybe". I'm not really sure. I would have to watch all the episodes in a relative short amount of time to really compare how much episodes featured Jesse compared to the other cast members. But as of right now, I don't think he had a lot.

Yeah, I never really thought about it. The episodes that are airing on ABC Family right now (Season 1) does kind of have a lot of Jesse. Like Sea Cruise, Our Very First Night, Jesse's Girl, Half a Love Story, The Seven-Month Itch: Part 1, and The Seven-Month Itch: Part 2  are all kind of Jesse-centered. I'll vote "Maybe", I guess there were a lot of Jesse episodes, but like MT Fan, I don't think he really was overused.

I think he became overused in the later seasons, because he got married, had kids, started a band/got a record deal, did all that stuff with his band, his hair lol, but still I think alot of the episodes were based around him.

Someone would have to do a line count on that one day... I was always interested in that but never had the time. Anyway, Michelle had a much worse case than Jesse ever had, and as others have said, the reason he had so many episodes was that he went through so many changes throughout the series.

I liked his character, despite some irritating character flaws (i.e. favoritism   ), so I guess I'd rather have him take a lot of lines rather than Michelle or Joey.  But I went with maybe.  I suppose it's not something that gets in the way about the show, but if you substitute some of his time to good use, I would definitely be on board for that.

I would guess whether it bothers you or not would have something to do with your opinion on this, but I would have been ecstatic to see some other characters with more amount of time.

I guess the thing with Jesse is that even when he wasn't the center of attention, he often would have a B-plot or something that gave him a hefty amount of screentime anyways.

I've been doing a line count on a lot of the episodes that have been posted to Youtube, and Jesse is coming out with the most lines in most seasons. I'll list the season and the character with the most lines, and in brackets I'll put the number of episodes I counted in each season (I can only count lines from episodes that have been posted to Youtube, it's too hard to count lines off the tv).

Season 1 -- Jesse (12 episodes counted)
Season 2 -- Jesse (8 episodes counted)
Season 3 -- Jesse (5 episodes counted)
Season 4 -- Jesse (11 episodes counted)
Season 5 -- DJ (6 episodes counted)
Season 6 -- Stephanie (5 episodes counted)
Season 7 -- Jesse (10 episodes counted)
Season 8 -- Jesse (13 episodes counted)

Even though those results are not definitive, I have Jesse with the most lines in all but seasons 5 & 6. Even that might change as I count the lines on more episodes, as I havn't counted lines in any of the Jesse episodes from those seasons yet. I expect that Jesse will continue to have the most lines in the other seasons even as I count more episodes.

I don't have time to do this, but maybe someone could find episode scripts and take count of the lines??? I almost think that would be easier.

I know they have some scripts in the FHF website, if anyone is willing to scavenger in there.    But that information is pretty definitive leftturn, even if you don't have all the episodes.  In some cases you have half the entire season in there even still.

I voted for a bit too much. I don't think he had the most lines. They should have just reduced the number of Jesse & his band episodes.
