Full House Sets
« on: August 14, 2007, 04:08:06 AM »
I've always wondered how did the audience watch the girls room-were they really upstairs or on the same level as the audience? and how did the audience see all the sets-did they move them around or have tv moniters in the audience? and what was it like watching an episode? I wish I could have seen a live taping but I wasn't old enough at the time

If it's like they have it on a lot of shows, the sets would be on the one level.  However certain ones might be placed in another area, except for ones that conveniently fit right beside each other, like the kitchen and the living room.

I'd assume the audience might move around if the scene called for it.  The second floor would take place in one area, while the first takes place in another, although not at the same time of course.

I coudl of course be wrong about this, although they definitely would have had to do some different positioning for the rooms upstairs so you can actually see them all.  It's hard to say for sure unless you've actually seen it.

I don't know either...but I'd assume that they're all on one level. My only question is like what did they do when they left the house? like parts that were taped in san fransisco did they just like have them already taped or did they idk lol...and yeah it kind of confuses me too....

If it was a very obvious landmark I'm sure they went to the real location (and if depends on if you mean with the actors or without as well), but for more local shots (such as the park or the basketball court) they would probably use something more convenient.

Here are some set pics, I got them as best as I could, I'll post more in a little while:

I tried to show the sets as best I could, but later I think I can dig up better ones.  And there's one of the audience.

That's why I'd love to see Behind the Walls of FH.  Seems like it would cover a lot of interesting unknowns like that.  It's possible that's even where the THS got their footage like that.  I'm not sure though.

I saw it, it used to be on YouTube.  But from what I remember they really didn't show THAT much of the sets, it was mostly interviews and stuff about the Olsens

It would have been nice if they actually went  behind the scenes of fh rather than focus mostly on MK&A

Wish I'd seen that when it was up.  I don't like the amount of attention the Olsens received, but it'd probably be interesting enough anyways.  Were the glimpses from the THS on there, fhfreak?

I doubt it, although I suppose some other show could have done it over to make it look different.  Don't think they would just hang onto it though.  I don't know a lot about those things, but it doesn't seem like it's something sitcoms have.  Maybe I'm wrong though.  It would certainly be cool if it was around.

Wow, this thread is really interesting. I agree it would be really cool to know how the sets was  :)
I saw a behind the scenes video footage of the taping of "Friends", and my guess is that they did it the same way on Full House; They put up the first set (Central Perk), and finished the filming from that set, and then they had a little intermission where they redid that set into their apartments. That way they wouldn't have to move the audience.
So I guess that on Full House they might have finished the downstairs taping, and then changed that set into the upstairs set...
I could be wrong, but that is my guess..

I know Friends took apart their sets for the summer hiatus, but I don't think they'd go through all the work of physically changing one set to another.

It would take quite a bit of time, and probably wouldn't fit in with different sizes.  FH being an older show I would think this would be all the more reason.  If Friends actually did do that, it doesn't sound it was always the standard practice or else they might not even mention it.

I guess we all have to resort to speculate unless we know for sure though, lol.  ;D

I don't know what they did with the sets on Full House, but I think on That 70s Show they had the sets facing in different directions. At least this is what I recalls from watching the behind the scenes tour of That 70s Show that aired around the time that the show's finale. So the basment set faced one set of bleachers, the kitchen, driveway and garage faced a second set of bleachers, and the living room faced a third set of bleachers. Maybe something similar was done on Full House, with the main floor facing one set of bleachers, the upstairs facing a second set of bleachers, and the other sets facing other bleachers yet again.

Here's a link to a previous thread on The Full House Sets.
